Ellsworth Collection

Inspired by the work of Ellsworth Kelly, Mark Kapka's new, aptly named collection is imbued with the artist's reductive approach to creating strong dialogue between elemental forms and their surrounding space. Juxtaposing form and materials, the exteriors of the Lounge pieces speak to a refined, understated formality-a striking contrast to the intimate, enveloping nature of the interiors. A Round Arm Chair shares a thematic sensibility, but offers a more evocative object quality, shedding crisp lines for seductive contours and curves. This sculptural Chair is beautiful from all angles, able to stand alone in any space.

Ellsworth Occasional pieces are expressed in gently rounded shapes that vary from light, linear metal frame tables to the enclosed volumes of the upholstered stool, benches and ottomans. All have a distinctive metal base ring that delineates the perimeter and provides a unifying element of structure. Table surfaces, including those for Nesting Work Tables and the hardtop Ottoman, come in stone, solid surface, colored lacquer or finely crafted veneer patterns. As a collection, the contrasts of shape, scale, material and color create a rich and intriguing interplay among objects.
